Imagine staying in a boutique hotel that not only offers a luxury experience, but also boasts the world’s largest Rioja wine cellar.

Welcome to Hotel Palacio de Los Ángeles, set to open March 1, 2026, in the northern Spanish province of La Rioja. The property, part of Majestic Hotel Management, and a new addition to The Leading Hotels of the World, is set within a magnificent restored 18th-century Baroque palace in the heart of Haro, transforming the historic residence into a discreet five-star boutique hotel where architectural legacy, contemporary design, and world-class wine culture converge.

With this opening, Majestic Hotel Management expands into Spain’s celebrated Rioja wine region, bringing its signature approach to independent luxury hospitality to the area.

“We are pleased to welcome Palacio de Los Ángeles to The Leading Hotels of the World,” said Dean Bannon, Vice President of Member Success & Development, The Leading Hotels of the World in a statement. “Haro, at the heart of La Rioja, offers a rich cultural and viticultural heritage, and the team behind Palacio de Los Ángeles has embraced this setting with admirable vision. Their thoughtful revitalization of a historic palace, and ambition to create experiences that capture the spirit of the region speak directly to the values we champion.”

Meticulously restored, the former noble palace preserves original stonework and historic volumes while embracing a refined, minimalist aesthetic by Trenchs Studio. Natural materials, soft neutral tones, and carefully curated lighting create an atmosphere of quiet luxury that reflects the unhurried rhythm of life in Rioja Alta.

The hotel features 38 rooms and suites, each conceived as a serene retreat blending modern comfort with subtle references to local history. Wood, stone, and natural light define the interiors, complemented by state-of-the-art technology and thoughtful design details.

For longer stays or added privacy, 10 one- and two-bedroom residences located in an adjacent building offer residential-style living with full access to all hotel services.

At the heart of Palacio de Los Ángeles lies its defining enogastronomic identity, curated by Carlos and Ignacio Echapresto, the two-Michelin-star brothers behind Venta Moncalvillo. The hotel is home to El Calado, a historic underground cellar housing the world’s largest collection of Rioja wines, positioning the property as a global destination for wine lovers. Above ground, La Ventilla Wine Bar and restaurant reinterpret traditional Riojan cuisine through a contemporary lens, celebrating local produce, seasonality, and wine as the central cultural thread.

Designed for restoration and well-being, the hotel also features a landscaped garden terrace with a heated outdoor pool, a serene spa with Natura Bissé treatments, a fully equipped gym, and intimate spaces for tastings, cultural gatherings, and private events – many set within the atmospheric stone walls of the calado itself.

Committed to responsible luxury, Hotel Palacio de Los Ángeles holds VERDE (GREEN) certification from Green Building Council Spain, reflecting its sustainability-driven reconstruction and eco-conscious operations.

As Haro continues to affirm its place among Europe’s most revered wine destinations, Hotel Palacio de Los Ángeles emerges as a new icon – offering a deeply rooted yet contemporary expression of Rioja, where history, gastronomy, wellness, and wine culture meet.
