The legendary beauty of Italy’s Coastiera Amalfitana has drawn millions of visitors and inspired artists, writers and musicians for centuries.

This stretch of coastline in southern Italy overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Gulf of Sorrento includes 30-plus miles of famously winding roads with narrow, S-shaped curves, tunnels and hairpin white-knuckled turns.

After living in Italy in the late 1990s and returning to this exceptional destination, I still believe the Amalfi Coast is Italy’s most scenic stretch of coastline. This is also the mythical home of the sirens whose haunting songs were believed to have lured ancient mariners to their demise.

Though my family, friends and I have taken numerous day trips from Naples to the Amalfi Coast, it wasn’t until a cousin visiting from the U.S. rented a vacation home in Positano that I appreciated the difference between a day trip and an actual extended stay at one of these magnificent villas perched precariously atop cliffs offering unforgettably stunning views.

Here are top vacation rentals we’ve discovered in the town of Positano with a range of prices. Though the Amalfi Coast boasts 14 different municipalities. each with its own special magic, one of our favorites remains Positano.

All vacation rentals include full kitchens unless otherwise specified.
